Christian Education Opportunities
Christian Education is one of the pillars of our Christian faith. Without it, our faith's foundation is weak and may even crumble.
There are numerous references in the Scriptures which point out the importance of knowing what we ought to believe as the disciples
of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul exhorted Timothy to "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to
be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 New International Version or NIV). The Apostle Peter
urged us to "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
(1 Peter 3:15 NIV).
Here at Tanner Williams United Methodist Church, we have an excellent Christian education program in our Sunday School,
Children's Church, Youth Ministries, and Adult Bible Studies. Join one of these classes today and bolster your knowledge and
understanding of Biblical, spiritual, and other Christian matters. Following is a fuller description by the teachers and leaders
of these classes as to what you will find in each one of them.
Tiny Tots for Jesus
Led by Mrs. Barbara Williams
The children will be studying the visit of the wise men bringing gifts to Baby Jesus.
We will learn we too can give gifts to Jesus and to others. Memory verse: “The child Jesus grew.
He became strong and wise, and God blessed Him” (Luke 2:40).
Live B.i.G.
Led by Mrs. Robyn Terry
Hear, See and Live Your Belief in God. "Believe in God, believe also in me." (John 14:1)
Children ages preschool through fifth grade will come to know God through Jesus in these Sunday school classes. The
lessons will help them live out their belief in God in their everyday lives. Live B.i.G. will excite and enrich your
children's spiritual lives by bringing their everyday real world experience into Sunday school. This will be an hour
of faith-filled, high-energy excitement for your children! Join us at 10:45 in Studio 8.2.

Life Search
Led by Mrs. Jane Cooley
This class is an informal study group that examines important issues of our day from a Christian perspective and
is specifically intended for those who are seeking ways to relate their faith to real life.
Our current literature is Basic United Methodist Beliefs: An Evangelical View. This study gives a fresh, readable introduction
to basic United Methodist beliefs. It is faithful to both the Scripture and our Methodist traditions.
The Seekers
Led by Mrs. Mary Parden
Although this class is made up predominantly of upper middle-agers, we welcome all adults.
In January and February, with text from Genesis, Exodus and Galatians, we will study God’s
protection and God’s redemption, completing the winter Adult Bible Studies series
“God Establishes a Faithful People.”
The Young-in-Heart
Led by Mrs. Louise Davis
This winter, through the challenges and triumphs in stories of our faith,
writer Ellsworth Kalas inspires us to examine where and in whom we place our
ultimate trust. Our January text is from Genesis and Exodus, and in February,
we turn to Galatians as we complete the winter Adult Bible Studies series,
“God Establishes a Faithful People.”
Sunday Evening Bible Study
Led by Pastor Ray Lane
This study meets at 6:00 p.m. each Sunday in the church sanctuary. It is an informal time of question and answer
with group discussion on a variety of subjects. When we are between series, the pastor delivers a devotional-style
message each week. Come, and see what an enjoyable time of spiritual discovery we have every week!
